Rome: Bruce Springsteen Concert, 19 July 2009

At the threshold of 60 years and more than 30 years after the beginning of his career Bruce Springsteen is still one of the most beloved rockers in the world, and his live performances are unmissable and long-awaited events for thousands of fans.

Only a few months after the publication of his latest album, Working on a Dream, and after his American tour, Bruce Springsteen is ready to arrive in Europe for a series of concerts in many cities: the tour will kick off in Landgraaf in Holland on the 30th of May and will end in Santiago, Spain, on the 2nd of August. Springsteen will play in Italy as well; three dates have been scheduled: 19th of July at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, 21st July at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin, and 23rd of July at the Stadio Friuli in Udine. This will certainly be an intense summer for Springsteen’s Italian fans, who always welcome the boss in a very warm way, and who have already bought tickets and booked luxury hotels in Rome not to miss the event. On the other hand, it must be said that the boss is very good in returning his Italian followers’ affection: the concerts that he will hold in July come only one year after his latest live performance in Italy (in 2008 he played on the stage of Stadio Meazza in Milan, where it had held his first concert in Italy in 1985), and they are expected to recreate the magic atmosphere of past performances. Also for this tour the boss will be accompanied by the E Street Band, who has worked with Springsteen for about 30 years, and who are now playing again with the boss after a separation occurred in the 90s.

The fans who will attend the concert in Italy’s capital city staying in a cheap lodging in Rome will have the chance to listen to the songs of the new album, Working on a Dream, which was published at the beginning of the year and was recorded during the breaks of the promotional tour of the previous album, Magic (2007). As the new album was recorded during the tour, on Working on a Dream Springsteen and the E Street band tried to shower the energy they accumulated during their live performances, and this is why the songs of the new album are supposed to gain a surplus value when played live.

Besides the songs of Working on a Dream, Springsteen and the band will play also other songs included in older albums, to go over the wide discography of the boss, who has released 14 studio albums throughout his career, besides other live recordings and greatest hits. Book now a b&b in Rome and get ready to attend a long concert (the boss never spares himself on stage), and to listen to songs that have come down in rock history, like famous Born to Run and Born in the U.S.A, and intense tracks like The Ghost of Tom Joad and Streets of Philadelphia (the latter, which was included in Philadephia original soundtrack, won the Oscar prize for the best song in 1994).

Tickets: 46 – 92 euro
Date: 19th July 2009
Location: Sadio Olimpico, Rome, Italy

Rome: Mogwai Concert, 18 July 2009

On the 18th of July the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome will be pervaded by Mogwai’s magnetic music.

Mogwai, a Scottish band born in 1995, will be in Italy in July for two dates of their tour, which includes various European cities, as well as venues in Japan and in the United States. The dates to save are the 17th (Florence) and the 18th of July (Rome): many fans have already booked 2 star hotels in Rome not to miss the concert in the eternal city, which is expected to be one of the most fascinating music events of this summer. Mogwai’s music, indeed, has the capacity to capture the audience and to make it enter the magic world of the band, a world made of melancholy, long suites and alternation of quietness and noise. Mogwai’s music, which includes only rare voice insertions, has the same capacity to communicate as the music of other non instrumental bands, and this is an evidence of the fact that music, when it is well done, can be a very powerful means of expression, autonomous and independent of verbal language. Mogwai, who claim not to write lyrics because they do not have anything essential to say (and this example should be followed by many other bands who really have nothing essential to say) do not limit themselves to the form of traditional songs, following the logic of the market, on the contrary, they prefer to deal with what they can do best, i.e. playing, and they follow only one composing rule: using their own instinct. And if we give consideration to the affection that the audience shows to have for them during their concerts, we can say that Mogwai’s style is appreciated by many people. Also in Italy the Scottish band is getting more and more popular, and the concerts that they will hold in Rome and Florence will give those who missed their Italian concerts in February (Mogwai held two successful concerts in Bologna and Milan) the possibility to appreciate their capacities.

If you book a holiday guest house in Rome you will have the chance to attend the concert and to listen to the songs of the latest album, The Hawk is Howling. Released in 2008, The Hawk is Howling is the 6th studio album published by the band from Glasgow, who has become one of the main representatives of post rock (but this label is probably too generic) in few years. Mogwai were born in 1995, and the original band only included three members (guitar player Stuart Braithwaite, bass player Dominic Aitchinson and drum player Martin Bulloch), who were then joined by another guitar player, John Cummings. With this line-up the band released their first LP Ten Rapid, and after the arrival of another guitar player, Brendan O’Hare, they released their first album Young Team, which was then followed by Come on Die Young, Rock Action, Happy Songs for Happy People, Mr Beast, the soundtrack Zidane: a 21st Century Portrait OST, and by the latest album, The Hawk is Howling, which have confirmed Mogwai to be one of the most interesting bands of the last few years. Do not miss this concert, plan now a weekend in Rome.

Rome: Buena Vista Social Club Concert, 11 July 2009

Summer in Rome is particularly appealing, due to various cultural and music events that the city regularly hosts attracting not only the tourists who choose the eternal city as a travel destination, above all in summer, but also the Roman citizens that stay in the city in summer, and for whom the wide range of events fit for all tastes and all ages is an interesting and pleasant vent after a day at work or trapped in the traffic jam.

“Luglio suona bene” (July sounds good), a festival organized by Fondazione Musica per Roma, is one of those important music and cultural events that make a stay in Rome in summer even more attractive. The 7th edition of the festival, that is traditionally hosted in the Auditorium Parco della Musica, will take place between the end of June and the end of July, hosting a number of artists coming from all over the world and playing different music genres. One of the main features of the festival, which always attracts many music lovers in cheap campsites in Rome, is that of giving space to many different music genres, with high quality as a common feature, and to host artists coming from all over the world, in order to provide a wide offer and to meet everybody’s desires. And this year, besides important Italian singers like Francesco de Gregori and Fiorella Mannoia, international popstars like Michael Bolton and Anastacia, and niche bands like Mogwai, just to make few examples, Rome will host also the lively old of the Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra.

The Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra, which got very popular about 10 years ago, although its members are not young or inexpert musicians at all, achieved a great success both in music and cinema. In a decade musically dominated by English music and alluring boybands, the record Buena Vista Social Club and the homonymous documentary directed by great German director Wim Wenders achieved an amazing success, going beyond the best expectations and making the orchestra one of the most famous Cuban bands in the world.

Buena Vista Social Club was the name of an historic club in Havana, which in the 40s was the meeting place of black people (at that time clubs were divided according to races), who used to dance and play there. At the end of the 50s the club was closed, but after 40 years a group of important Cuban musicians gave birth to the Afro-Cuban All Stars, releasing the album Buena Vista Social Club in 1996 and contributing to the diffusion of the passion for Cuban music all over the world. The orchestra began to perform in various locations: a concert that they held in Amsterdam in 1999 and another performance at the Carnegie Hall in New York became the subject of Wim Wenders’ documentary, and this was only the beginning of a live activity that keeps taking the orchestra all over the world, in spite of the death of some members of the original line-up. The concert in Rome is a great chance to immerse in Cuban music and atmosphere: book now discounted hotels in Rome.

Rome: The Blessed Angelico. The Dawn of the Renaissance, 8 April – 5 July 2009

Every summer tourists coming from all over Italy and from the rest of the world travel to Rome, the eternal city that thanks to its huge historic and artistic heritage catches the attention of millions of people of different age, culture and nationality.

Visiting Rome, its museums, historic buildings and monuments is always a unique experience, which can bring us back to the past. The tourists who travel to Rome are spoiled for choice, due to a great amount of churches, exhibitions and much more, and very often a short holiday is enough to see only a small part of what a city like Rome can offer. However, if you have already booked your low cost accommodation in Rome for this summer, you cannot miss the great exhibition dedicated to one of the most important Italian artists, the Blessed Angelico. From the 8th of April to the 5th of July Musei Capitolini will host the exhibition “The Blessed Angelico. The Dawn of the Renaissance”, which is considered as one of the most outstanding art events of 2009. This is the largest Italian exhibition ever dedicated to the Tuscan artist, who was dedicated another personal exhibition in the Vatican and in Florence in 1955 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of his death, while the exhibition that will be held this year in Rome is part of the celebrations for the 550th anniversary of the artist’s death. Fra’ Giovanni da Fiesole (this was his real name) was born in Vicchio, Florence (the same village where another great Italian artist, Giotto, was born) about the year 1395, and died in Rome in 1455, leaving an indelible trace in art history. The Blessed Angelico, indeed, is considered as one of the main figures of early Italian Renaissance, an artist that was influenced by late Middle Ages artists, yet he took a new route towards Renaissance art.

The exhibition is worth a visit for several reasons. First of all it includes an accurate selection of works coming from museums and collections from all over the world, which make visitors discover the different phases of the life and style of the Blessed Angelico, from the late gothic period to a more mature phase, characterized by a humanistic taste. The exhibition also includes some works which have never been displayed before, like the altar step from Zagabria (St Francis receiving the stigmata and the Martyrdom of St Peter) and the Annunciation from Dresden (reassembled in the 16th century), as well as other works that have been restored for the exhibition, like the Triptych from the Corsini Gallery in Rome including the Last Judgment, Ascension and Pentecost. Another feature that makes this exhibition particularly interesting is the focus on all the forms of art used by the Blessed Angelico, who was not only painter, but also miniaturist and drawer: space will be given to panels, tabernacles, canvas, polyptychs, altarpieces, but also to rare drawings, engraving and a mass-book containing miniatures.

The exhibition will be an unmissable event for all art lovers that will stay in a family hotel in Rome from the 8th of April to the 5th of July.

Date: 8th April – 5th July 2009

Rome: Monte Mario Motorcycling Circuit, 10 May 2009

Vintage cars and motorbikes fascinate not only drivers, motorcyclists and motor lovers, for whom the roar of motors is really like music and the most ancient and rare models are like jewels of inestimable value: even for those who are not experts or passionate seeing a vintage car or motorbike is an interesting experience, which makes them go back in time admiring vehicles which are completely different from the ones that we use nowadays, and which might tell us something more about the life and the habits of our ancestors.

If you have the possibility to admire vintage vehicles not locked in a garage, but while they are running along a historic route, the experience turns out to be even more interesting, and its evocative power gets stronger: this is the case of the Monte Mario Motorcycling Circuit, an event which will take place in Rome on the 10th of May 2009 for the 6th consecutive year. Motorbikes of all brands built before the 31st of December 1979 can take part in this non-competitive race, which is very exciting also for the public: every year many people watch the race and spend a wonderful holiday in Rome at once.

The day begins early for motorcyclists, with the preliminary operations and the race entry, followed by the recognition lap and the beginning of the race, at 10 o’clock. A prize will be awarded to those who will make the best time, but some special prices will be awarded also to the youngest and the oldest motorcyclists and to the motorcyclist who comes from the longer way off, while all participants will receive a souvenir of the event. For these reasons this is a unique chance for all those who have a vintage motorbike, and who can finally carry it out of the garage, make it spick-and-span and ride along Rome’s streets, but also visitors will enjoy the show: many people come from all over Italy (many of them stay in Rome’s hostels) to admire very rare models, besides the historical vehicles of Carabinieri, Polizia di Stato, Polizia Municipale, Vigili del Fuoco and Polizia Penitenziaria, which open the parade by tradition.

The history and the fascinating location where the event takes place make it even more interesting: Monte Mario, 149 metres high, is the most imposing relief in Rome, and from here you can enjoy one of the most spectacular views of the city. Moreover Monte Mario circuit, which was born again in 2004, is well-known by all motor lovers because also Tazio Nuvolari drove in it on the 24th of February 1925, consigning it to history.

In conclusion, if you have a passion for motorbikes, or if you simply would like to watch a very interesting historical re-enactment in one of the most famous and beautiful zones of the eternal city, book now a 5 star hotel in Rome and do not miss the Monte Mario Motorcycling Circuit.

Rome: Killers and Franz Ferdinand, 14 July 2009

The Killers and Franz Ferdinand have recently published their new albums, and this summer they will both go on tour to present their songs and make us dance. A concert of these two bands is always a thrilling experience, but try to imagine what it means to see them playing live on the same day and on the same stage: it cannot but be an unmissable event. For this reason the concert that the Killers and Franz Ferdinand will hold in Rome on the 14th of July is considered as one of the most awaited events of this summer.

A unique chance to kill two birds with one stone and attend the concert of two of the most appreciated bands of the last few years, simply planning a stay in Rome. The Killers and Franz Ferdinand, the meeting of two bands which are in some ways different and in some ways similar: American from Las Vegas, openly influenced by the music of the 80s the first, Scottish from Glasgow the latter, who have added some funky and electronic features to their sound in their latest album. Their common ground is probably the desire to play a kind of rock that makes people dance, and if you book a cheap hotel in Rome and attend the concert you will have proof that both bands have achieved their purpose.

The concert will take place at the Ippodromo delle Capannelle and is part of Rock in Roma, a music festival that will take place in June and July taking some of the most appreciated Italian and international bands and singers to the eternal city. One of the main scheduled events is the concert of Killers and Franz Ferdinand, who come back to Italy after the success achieved by their latest tours and albums. Both bands have already performed in Italy in March: the Killers in Milan (the concert was soon sold out) and Franz Ferdinand in Bologna and Milan. Both bands have recently released a successful record: Tonight: Franz Ferdinand was published at the beginning of the year by the Scottish band and includes successful singles like Ulysses and No You Girl, while the Killers have published Day & Age at the end of 2008, preceded by the single Human, which everybody knows. A great result for both bands, who in few years time have passed from anonymity to global success: the debut albums of both bands date back to 2004 (Hot Fuss and Franz Ferdinand), a debut that boded well (everybody remembers songs like Somebody Told Me and Mr Brightside by Killers, Take me out and Michael by Franz Ferdinand), and an evidence of this is given by the success achieved by the following records, Franz Ferdinand’s You Could Have it so much better (2005) and Killers’ Sam’s Town (2006), which included songs that have come down in music history like Do you Want to and When you Were Young.

The stories of the Killers and Franz Ferdinand, which have developed in a parallel way, will soon cross in Rome. Do not miss this event, book now a hostel in Rome.

Rome: Patti Smith Concert, 6 July 2009

The Seventies, the most fertile decade from the musical point of view, have given birth to bands and artists that have come down in music history and have become real icons for many generations. When we speak about the rock legends of that period, we cannot avoid thinking about Patti Smith, the “priestess of rock”, who has delighted us with her voice, music and words since 1975, when she released her first album Horses.

It is not possible to go back to the Seventies, to that period characterised by a great music ferment, but the concert that Patti Smith will hold in Rome on the 6th of July will give us the chance to enjoy the performance of an artist that has marked those years, and to take advantage of the event to take a journey to Rome.

Patti Smith, who was born in Chicago in 1946, is not only a passionate singer and interpreter, but also a poetess and artist (her works will be displayed at the Robert Miller Gallery) who has worked in New York’s underground theatres, has been a busker and has performed as an actress and as a poetess, then succeeding in combining the expressive power of music with that of words, realising records that are now considered ad landmarks of rock. Patti Smith began to approach the world of music in the early Seventies, when she began to perform with Lenny Kaye, a rock composer: he would play the guitar and she would sing her poems. Few years after piano player Richard Sohl joined them, and together they started performing more regularly, playing also at the CBGB and succeeding in signing a record deal with an emerging label. This happened in 1975, and Horses made people discover Patti Smith’s music and poetry, paving the way for other successful albums and songs, like Because the Night, very famous song which was born of the collaboration with Bruce Springsteen, and which was included in the album Easter (1978). In 1979 Patti retired from the scene, but her voluntary exile lasted only 10 years: in 1988 she released the album Dream of Life, which was written together with her husband Fred Smith. With songs like People have the Power this record marked the artist’s return to the world of music. She did not published any other records until 1996, when she released Gone Again, which was followed by other works and live performances.

The concert that Patti Smith will hold in the eternal city will give you the chance to book holiday apartments in Rome and to attend the live performance of a living legend of rock, who still has much to say after 30 years. In Villa Ada in Rome the artist will hold an acoustic concert, accompanied by guitar player Lenny Kaye, who has worked with her since the beginning, and by her daughter, piano player Jesse Smith. Do not miss one of the most exciting music events of this summer: benefit from hotels offers in Rome.

Rome, Without Borders Film Festival, 1 – 3 July 2009

One of the biggest contradictions of our time is to be found in the distances between people: geographically speaking the distances between foreign countries are reducing, both means of communication and means of transports give us the illusion of being close to any other part of the world, and that we only need to turn on the TV or to take a plane to go elsewhere. On the other hand this geographical proximity does not correspond to a real feeling of closeness between different peoples, and problems like prejudices, ignorance, intolerance and incomprehension are far from being solved.

The “Without Borders Film Festival”, which takes place in Rome from the 1st to the 3rd of July (book now hotels in Rome), is meant to show what human beings have in common, if they go beyond religious and cultural differences, and telling stories dealing with the encounter of different peoples, it is intended to show that it is possible to go beyond geographical and mental borders.

The festival, which will be held this year for the second time (the first edition achieved a great success, attracting many cinema lovers in Rome), takes inspiration from a documentary realised by Paul Smaczny, “Konwledge is the Beginning”: filming a tour of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, which is made of musicians coming from Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Israel and Palestine, the documentary shows how inhabitants of countries that fight against each other can travel, work and live together, learning something from each other.

And the films that are selected every year to take part in the festival deal with similar themes, and telling stories they try to find a common humanity between people, which goes beyond any border. About 15 films of all genres (feature, short, animation films and documentaries) are projected during the festival, and projections are accompanied by meetings and discussions with directors, which give tourists in Rome the possibility to look into important issues and to exchange ideas with other people.

Among the themes discussed in this edition of the festival, the role of women in different societies (in the movie “Feminin – Masculin” by Sadaf Foroughi), censorship (“Head Wind” by Mohammad Rasoulof), the negative opinion that too often people have of Islam (“I Bring what I Love” by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi), peace and non-violence as means to achieve important aims (Kashmir: Journey to Freedom” by Udi Aloni), questions about identity (“Off and Running” by Nicole Opper), and much more. Do not miss the short films realised by some Roman students dealing with the theme of “walls”, in the 20th anniversary of the fall of Berlin wall: this works, together with a photo essay realised by some New York’s students which will be presented during the festival, highlights the importance of learning to destroy borders from an early age.

During the festival you will also have the possibility to visit the exhibition “The Course of History”, with the photos took by Belgian photographer Bart Michiels, who visited the most famous European battlefields and took photos of those landscapes as they appear today, to show how the passing of time covers the traces of those fights, while men cannot find a “cure” for war.

Rome: Giotto and the 14th Century, 6 March – 29 June 2009

Giotto, one of the most important innovators in art, is the protagonist of a splendid exhibition in Rome, at Vittoriano Museum.

The exhibition “Giotto and the 14th century”, which will take place in the eternal city from March the 6th to June the 29th, is an unmissable event for all art lovers and scholars, who will not miss the chance to book a hostel in Rome and visit an exhibition that is meant to deal not only with Giotto’s works and the influence that the artist had on his contemporaries and on subsequent art, but also with Italian art between the end of the 12th and the first half of the 14th century. As the title of the exhibition suggests, indeed, the exhibition is not only dedicated to Giotto, but more in general to the time when he lived, and it includes not only works realised by this great artist (about 20), but also those of other artists: painters (Cimabue, who was Giotto’s master, Simone Martini, Pietro Lorenzetti), sculptors (Arnolfo di Cambio, Giovanni Pisano, Giovanni di Balduccio), and goldsmiths (Guccio di Mannaia and Andrea Puvvi Sardi), totalling 150 works.

Giotto, who was born in Vespignano, in the province of Florence, moved to many Italian cities throughout his life, leaving an indelible trace in every place that he visited. The exhibition can be seen as a sort of reconstruction of Giotto’s travels in Italy, which can make us discover how the artist spread his artistic language in various Italian regions (Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Emilia Romagna, Veneto, Lombardy, Lazio, Campania), and how his works influenced the painting schools of the cities he visited. This is a large and exhaustive exhibition, which features works coming from all over Italy and from all over the world to make the tourists who plan to visit Rome discover the innovative features of Giotto’s style, from three-dimensional representation of space to the return to naturalism and human figure.

The displayed works will include Giotto’s “Madonna with Child on a Throne and Two Angels”, “God the Father Enthroned”, “Christ blessing St John the Evangelist and the Virgin”, Cimabue’s “Virgin and Child”, Puppio Capanna’s “Crucifixion”, Taddeo Gaddi’s “Greggio Crib”, and some recently restored works which will be displayed for the first time after the restoration, like Giotto’s “Badia Polyptich”. Besides the works that will be displayed at the Vittoriano, which have already convinced many art lovers to book cheap hotels in Rome, the exhibition will also include some “virtual” works which, due to their frailty or to their big size (Giotto was not only a great painter, but also a great architect, and an evidence of that is given by Santa Maria del Fiore bell tower, in Florence) have not been taken to Rome, but which are necessary to present Giotto’s work in an exhaustive way. These works make up the interesting and innovative educational section “L’altro Giotto” (the other Giotto), which is meant to introduce visitors into the exhibition and into Giotto’s world and art.

Tickets: 10 euro, reduced 7,50 euro
Date: 6th March – 29th June 2009

Rome: Metallica Concert, 24th June 2009

Summer in Rome will be fired up by Metallica’s music: the world tour of the American band will arrive in Rome on June the 24th.

The concert of Metallica in the eternal city will give thousands of fans the chance to spend a low cost holiday in Rome and to listen to the songs of the latest album of the band, Death Magnetic, released in September 2008. The 9th studio album of the band, the first one to be recorded with current bass player Robert Trujillo, who was hired after the defection of Jason Newsted, has achieved a great success, hitting number one of the charts in 25 countries, including Italy, and has been described by critics as a return to the style of the beginning and to a sound which makes it similar to albums like Master of Puppets and …And Justice for All, respectively released in 1986 and 1988.

The new album has been published 27 years after the formation of the band and 25 years after the first album (Kill ‘Em All, indeed, was published in 1983), but the band seems not to suffer the passing of time: Metallica are always at work, although they have had to face various difficult moments in their career, like the death of bass player Cliff Barton in 1986, alcohol problems (in 2001 James Hetfield temporarily left the band to take part in an alcohol rehabilitation program), the change of some members of the band (besides Jason Newsted, in 1983 guitarist Kirk Hammett replaced Dave Mustaine, then founder of Megadeth, with whom the band had an argument about the authorship of some songs realised while Mustaine was still part of Metallica). In 2001 Metallica also had to deal with a lawsuit against Napster, which had distributed via internet some songs of the band for free, and this contributed in creating the image of a band only interested in money. Nonetheless Metallica are still on the crest of the wave, and each published album has achieved a great success, although many old-guard fans did not really appreciate albums like Load and Re-Load, respectively published in 1996 and in 1997, which marked a change in the style of the band, visible also in their renewed look, cleared of long hair and leather clothes. Despite criticism, Metallica have always gone on, marking three decades with songs that everyone remembers (from The Four Horsemen to Fuel, from Nothing Else Matters to Until it Sleeps, from One to St Anger, just to give few examples), and receiving important awards also 25 years after their formation (in 2009 the band was awarded with a grammy for “Best Metal Performance”).

If you want to see one of the most important bands of the last few decades at work you only need to book a 3 star hotel in Rome and enjoy the concert of Metallica, a band that can best express the power of its music live. The band’s performance, which has already convinced many fans to book a cheap guest house in Rome and to buy a ticket, will be preceded by two interesting bands: Lamb of God and Mastodon.

Rome: 77th International Horse Show at Piazza di Siena, from the 28th to the 31st of May 2009

Since 1922 Piazza di Siena, at Villa Borghese (one of the largest and most fascinating parks in Rome), hosts an important horse event: the International Horse Show at Piazza di Siena.

The 77th edition of the International Horse Show at Piazza di Siena will take place from May the 28th to the 31st in the eternal city, attracting many turfmen and VIPs, who will probably lodge in luxury hotels in Rome, and who will not want to miss one of the most important and fascinating horse competitions in the world.

Both the race and the location where it takes place have a long and interesting story, which dates back to the end of the 18th century, when Prince Marcantonio Borghese commissioned from the architects Mario and Antonio Asprucci the project of a space where to organise events and palios which could remind him of Siena, the city of origin of Borghese family. Although the prince died before works were finished, his son carried on his project, and Villa Borghese became an ideal place to host feasts, celebrations and spectacular events. Piazza di Siena, at Villa Borghese, its name deriving from the family’s city of origin, has hosted horse events since 1922. Six years later, in 1928, the International Horse Show at Piazza di Siena was officially held for the first time: the first edition featured races between 4 teams (France, Poland, Spain and Italy), and with the passing of time the event has hosted unforgettable challenges between some of the best riders in the world, like Bettoni, D’Inzeo brothers and Graziano Mancinelli. Since 1928 the event has taken place every year except between 1940 and 1947, achieving a great success and confirming Piazza Di Siena to be one of the “sacred” locations of Italian horse racing. An evidence of the international importance of the event is given by the fact that in 2003 the show has been inserted in the Samsung Super League, which includes the 8 best international horse shows.

The tourists who will take advantage of Rome travel deals will take part in an event where history, show and competitive spirit mix, an event that can attract up to 50,000 people, who are interested in races but also in other happenings that make the event unmissable. Besides races, in which the 8 best classified teams of the season will take part, and which will give people the possibility to admire the ability of some of the best riders in the world, Piazza di Siena will host also other interesting shows, like the famous “Carosello dei Carabinieri” (Mounted Carabinieri Display): about 145 horses and riders take part in a very suggestive historical re-enactment. Many people book a guest house in Rome and join the event just not to miss this display, which traditionally closes the event. This show remains engraved on spectators’ memory: re-enacting ancient medieval tournaments, as well as the historic battle of Pastrengo (30th of April 1848), in which mounted Carabinieri played a very important role, Carabinieri parade and perform a series of extraordinary evolutions on horse.

Who is responsible for social media marketing?

social mediaWith the massive increasing popularity of Social Media and Social Media Marketing, online marketing professionals are now asking a couple of questions:

- “who is responsible for marketing and contents in this new challenge?”
- "Does this sit entirely within the marketing department?"

Traditional marketing teams have usually managed brand and marketing campaigns within their companies.
Now it's time for a more coordinated effort.

The new culture of participation gives us the opportunity for using the new instruments of Social Network to the benefit of the whole organization.
  • How does the HR team use Social Media to attract new talents?
  • How does the Operational Team use the Social Network tools to stay in touch with employees and maintain engagement?
  • How can Social Media help the R&D team in tapping into new ideas and testing responses to new products?
  • How does the Merchandising team use Social Media to test or seed new sample product?
With so many potential and challenging oportunities companies need now to develop a new overall Social Media strategy for their business.

The next question is whether the CEO is up to date with the shift in the way consumers now interact with social media...

Rome: God Save the Punk, from the 12th to the 24th of May 2009

Is it possible to bring punk to theatre? Is it possible to represent one of the most deflagrating music phenomena ever with the limits of a play, without losing its explosive power? The show “God Save the Punk”, in Rome from May the 12th to the 24th, is an evidence of the fact that it is possible to tell the story of punk on a theatre stage mixing words and music, images and drama.

Carmen Giardina, an Italian actress and director, had the idea of realising a play inspired to punk music and culture after having read Please Kill Me by Legs McNeil e Gillian McCain, a book that deals with punk and gives voice to those who have really experienced this world, gathering interviews and statements issued by those people who can be somehow considered as the protagonists of punk: musicians, artists, but also groupies, record industrialists and journalists. The tales gathered in Please Kill Me are very lively, and they have inspired an even more involving play, which adds music and images to narration, in order to make this phenomenon live again, a phenomenon that was born at the end of the 60s, reached its climax in the 70s and keeps having followers all over the world and influencing contemporary music, fashion and culture.

Book now a bed and breakfast in Rome and get ready to enjoy a unique play where three actors (Nicole De Leo, Fabio Gomiero and Enrico Salimbeni) play the main figures of punk, give voice to their thoughts and tell their, often tragic, stories: from Lou Reed’s shock treatment to the death of Sid Vicious, Johnny Thunder and Nico, not forgetting a wide range of other people who have come down in musical history, like Iggy Pop, Patty Smith, the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, Malcolm McLaren, the Clash. Actors act on an innovative, digital scene, which features only various screens where images and performances of punk musicians are projected. Planning a vacation in Rome and watching the show means immersing oneself in punk music: in such a show, indeed, music cannot but play a main role. Songs have been selected by Pivio & Aldo de Scalzi, composers of many successful soundtracks, and these songs give spectators the possibility to rediscover, if necessary, the rebel sound of those artists who were not able to play perfectly, and yet succeeded in shaking up the world of music.

The show “God Save the Punk”, which was successfully staged in 2008, will be enacted at Vascello Theatre: every evening the show will feature a 15 minutes video called “Il video racconta il punk” (Videos tell punk), which glances at Italian punk panorama and which will be updated every evening.

Book a hotel in Rome city centre and enjoy a show that will take you to the heart of punk, and which will tell you something more about this music, social and cultural phenomenon, giving voice to the words and music of the protagonists of punk.

Rome: Letterature – International Literature Festival, from the 26th of May to the 25th of June 2009

The first summer cultural event in Rome is “Letterature”, an international literature festival that has hosted some of the best Italian and international writers since 2002.

“Letterature” will take place in the eternal city from May the 26th to June the 25th (save these dates: 26-29 May, 4, 5, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25 June), and will gather in a beautiful venue (Basilica di Massenzio at Foro Romano) 16 narrators, 8 poets and 2 scientists, besides a number of spectators, who book 3 stars hotel in Rome every year to immerse themselves in literature. The event formula is unvaried: authors, who have been chosen because of their literary importance or in virtue of the success achieved by their works, will present brand new works inspired by a common theme which has been suggested by the organisers of the event. This year the theme will be “Terra Luna, una infinita risonanza” (“Earth Moon, an endless resonance”), which gives us the possibility to think about the dichotomy ourselves-elsewhere, and which is meant to celebrate a theme that has always inspired scientists, writers and poets, from Galileo to Leopardi and Pirandello.

The festival is meant to look into the different aspects of the dichotomy earth-moon, giving space to all literary genres, from fantasy novels to poetry: literature lovers cannot miss the chance to enjoy a trip to Rome and meet some of the most appreciated Italian and international authors. The festival will kick off with an extraordinary couple: America Andrew Sean Greer, whose novel The Story of a Marriage has been very appreciated both by readers and by critics, and Margaret Mazzantini, one of the most appreciated and awarded contemporary Italian writers (Don’t Move and Venuto al Mondo are only two of her best-known novels). The festival will include also many other interesting events: “Lunar Park, scritture stralunate” will host Edoardo Albinati and Vinicio Capossela, while Swede John Ajvide Lindqvist and Italian fantasy novelist Licia Troisi will participate in the event named “L’ombra della luna, scritture dell’immaginario”. “Il verso della luna” is the name of the evening dedicated to poetry, while “La luna nel pozzo” will host Roberto Piumini, a fairy tales writer, and Andrea Vitali. Space will be given also to legal thriller, with John Grisham, the author that has sold the most during the 90s, and to crime fiction, with Swede Bjorn Larsson and American Matthew Pearl. Petros Markaris, Antonio Muñoz Molina and Ermanno Cavazioni too will take part in the event, while the physicist Carlo Rovelli and the geologist Mario Tozzi will close the festival dealing with the theme “Earth Moon” from a scientific point of view.

“Letterature” is a festival where authors read out passages of their own works, and where words and other expression means mix together: different kinds of music played by djs and bands (like Giardini di Mirò, Luna Riverse, Port Royal) will accompany the readings, and every meeting will be introduced by a trailer made up of images and music. However, the focus will always be on the main feature of the festival, i.e. on words, in particular words in tales and poetry, to highlight their importance not only as expression means, but also as matter to be moulded into art. Rome: Brazil through its Artists from the 21st of April to the 23rd of May 2009

Brazil is a wonderful and fascinating country, pervaded as it is by amazing colours and landscapes and captivating music and rhythm. A melting-pot of cultures characterised by deep-rooted traditions, Brazil is one of the most longed-for travel destinations for travellers from all over the world, and it is universally appreciated and well-known for Rio Carnival, for its beaches, for the Amazon Forest, but also for the art and culture which emanate from this country.

To make people discover the best of Brazilian art, but also to present Brazil from the point of view of those artists who were born or have lived in Brazil, and who have taken inspiration from their homeland, from the 21st of April to the 23rd of May Rome will host the exhibition “Brazil through its Artists”.

The visitors of the exhibition, which will be held in the Brazilian Embassy, will take advantage of their holiday in Rome to take a journey to a more distant land, to discover landscapes which are sometimes made even more magic by the brush of some of the most appreciated Brazilian artists in the world: Roberto Burle Marx, who is considered as one of the best contemporary landscapists, and who is well-known also for having projected the UNESCO gardens in Paris; Carybé, a painter, engraver and sculptor who realised some murals for New York’s John F. Kennedy airport; João Henrique, who with his extraordinary technique in using colours has succeeded in displaying his works all over the world; Antônio Maia, whose works, which are characterised by strong colours and precise symbols, reveal the country’s folkloristic traditions; Lia Mittarakis, who is well-known for her bright works representing folkloristic scenes; Cândido Portinari, who is considered as the most important painter in Brazil, and who has also realised the murals “War” and “Peace” for the United Nations building; Marylu Prado, an abstract artist who has been dedicated various personal exhibitions also in some European cities ; Francisco Da Silva, who was awarded a prize at the Venice Biennale in 1966; Rubem Valentim, an abstract-geometrical artist who often used the signs of Afro-American rituals.

Nine artists who will convince contemporary art lovers to book an apartment in Rome and go to the eternal city to visit a unique exhibition, which mixes styles and subjects which are very different from each other, and for this reason they can perfectly describe the diversity of Brazilian landscape, characterised as it is by lush vegetation but also by conurbations, and the traditions and rituals rooted in the culture of the country. An unmissable chance to learn something more not only about Brazilian art, but also about some of Brazil’s main features: since the 16th century Brazil has been a multiethnic and multicultural country, characterised by the mix of religions and cultures of African, European and indigenous people, and able to absorb all the different influences coming from various parts of the world to create a new, typically Brazilian, culture and identity. And this Brazilian capacity of fusion is particularly evident in this exhibition, which shows how Brazilian art has assimilated and reworked some of the most important European artistic currents, like impressionism, fauvism, cubism and surrealism, but also abstractionism, expressionism and concretism.

Book now a hotel in the centre of Rome and get ready to discover Brazil.

Rome: World Press Photo from the 8th to the 28th of May 2009

If you have a passion for photography do not miss the World Press Photo exhibition, which will be held in Rome in May, from the 8th to the 28th of May 2009.

World Press Photo is a non-profit organization created in Amsterdam in 1955, and it is meant to promote high-level photojournalism and contribute to the free exchange of information. The famous, homonymous photo contest is one of the main activities organised by the association, and for over 50 years it has awarded prizes to the best photos realised by press photographers from all over the world. Nowadays it is considered as the largest and most prestigious press photography contest in the world, an evidence of this being given by the numbers of the contest, which in this edition has reached record levels: 5,508 professional photographers coming from 124 different countries have presented their works (96,000 images). Moreover a great number of Asian photographers (Chinese and Indians in particular) have taken part in this year’s edition, 14% more than the previous edition. All photos have been divided into 10 categories (Spot News, General News, People in the News, Sports Action, Sports Features, Contemporary Issues, Daily Life, Portraits, Arts and Entertainment, Nature) and have undergone the evaluation of an international jury, which has awarded prizes to 62 photographers coming from 27 different counties, confirming that images, more than any other means of communication, can go beyond geographical, cultural and language boundaries.

The photos that are awarded a prize are always published in a book and displayed all over the world: also this year the World Press Photo exhibition, after being held in Amsterdam, will be set up in many other cities, like Rome: book now a hotel in Rome and find the time to watch some of the best and most representative photos of 2008, images that have been describing the most meaningful events of the year. The visitors who are planning a trip to Rome will have the possibility to admire the image that has been awarded the first prize: the picture, which was took by American Anthony Suau, is a black and white image featuring an officer in an apartment in Cleveland, Ohio. The man holds a gun and walks in a chaotic room, as if it was a war image. In fact the officer is simply checking that the people who have been turned out of their home have left the apartment, but the fact that the image reminds us of war is very meaningful, and the photo has been awarded because it is a sort of symbol of the world crisis, which brings war into the houses of those who cannot pay their debts. Also in this edition, then, the jury has awarded the main prize to a photographer who uses his ability to portray important contemporary issues.

Spend some days in the eternal city (you can stay in a campsite in Rome), and watch the photos taken by Italian photographers. Many Italian photographers have been awarded this year: Giulio Di Sturco, Davide Monteleone, Paolo Verzone, Massimo Siragusa, Mattia Insolera, Carlo Gianferro.

Rome: Depeche Mode Concert, 16th June 2009

Not many bands succeed in going through decades and music trends always achieving success and being appreciated both by critics and by different generations of music lovers, as if the passing of time, exactly as happens for wine, could only bring advantages to them. Depeche Mode certainly belong to this category.

Depeche Mode, born in 1980, have been one of the most important bands of that decade, and they have been able to renew themselves without rejecting their past, realising successful records also in the 90s and succeeding in carrying their music into the new millennium. With the publication of the new album Sounds of the Universe, this year in April, the band is celebrating an almost 30 years long career (the first album, Speak & Spell, was published in 1981), 30 years marked by ups and downs, by great success, by songs and concerts that went down in history but also by crisis, abandonment and recommencements, 30 years that have turned the band into a landmark in world’s music panorama.

To listen to the songs of the new album, which has hit charts at number one in 20 countries in the first week after its publication, while in other 10 countries (even in the United States, a traditionally difficult market for British bands, but not for Depeche Mode) it has moved up to the first 3 positions, the fans of the band will take part in one of the concerts of the long promotional tour of the new album: the “Tour of the Universe” will kick off in Tel Aviv on May 10th (the band was supposed to play in Israel during their previous tour in 2006, but the event was cancelled due to war), and will then go on all over the world. Italian fans shall book a guest house in Rome on June the 16th: the band will play at the Olimpico Stadium (in Italy they will also perform in Milan on June the 18th), for a concert that is expected to be unforgettable: Depeche Mode are very appreciated not only for their records, but also for their live exhibitions, and in this sense Italy seems to bring them luck, as in 2006, during the “Touring the Angel” tour, they chose an Italian city, Milan, to record a date of their tour and realise a DVD (Touring the Angel: Live in Milan).

This is a unique chance to visit Rome and take part in one of the most important music events of this summer at once, an event that will most probably be sold out (you’d better hurry up if you want to buy the last tickets and find a lodging in Rome), a concert that will give the fans of Depeche Mode the possibility to listen to old and new songs, like the singles taken from the new album, Wrong and Peace. Moreover the “Tour of the Universe” is the first ever stadium tour of the band, and also for this reason it is expected to attract a huge number of people and to match, and maybe surpass, the record of sold tickets in Europe during their previous tour.

Tickets: 41,40 – 57,50 euro

Rome: Art and Advertising. Italian Advertisement and Avant-Gardes 1920-1940, from the 26th of February to the 24th of May 2009

From the 26th of February to the 24th of May the exhibition “Art and Advertising. Italian Advertisement and Avant-Gardes 1920-1940” will be held in Rome. The exhibitory spaces of Casino dei Principi, in Musei di Villa Torlonia, will host about 100 posters realised between the 20s and the 40s, which show the connection between art and advertising and between advertising and industrial and economic development.

The first forms of advertisements date back centuries: on the walls of some houses in Pompei, which was destroyed by the volcano eruption, some writings have been found, which announced events, shows and competitions or persuaded people to vote for a given candidate. However, before the print invention, advertising was made through oral channels, like barkers and criers. With the print invention, in the 15th century, the first advertisements were published in newspapers, but it was during the Industrial Revolution, thus with the increase in production, products variety and competition between entrepreneurs, that the need of promoting products and informing customers arose, contributing to the birth of a type of advertising which was very similar to nowadays advertisements. In Italy, which was industrially and economically underdeveloped if compared to other countries, the first advertisements began to be widespread between the middle of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, both in newspapers and through posters, which soon became the main means of mass communication, and in the first half of the 20th century they were considered not only as an instrument to promote products, but also as a means of artistic expression.

Between the 20s and the 40s Italy underwent a particular period, characterised by political and social changes and industrial development. These years were marked by mass culture and production, fascism and propaganda, conquests and enthusiasm for modernity. In this period advertisements, which spread rapidly, became also a field of research and experimentation for artists: in this period some of the most important 20th century’s artists, like Adolfo Wild, Duilio Cambellotti, Mario Sironi, Lucio Fontana and the futurists Balla, Depero and Prampolini, realised advertisements.

The exhibition “Art and Advertising. Italian Advertisement and Avant-Gardes 1920-1940” is meant to show the evolution of art in advertising displaying books, posters and sketches realised in the first half of the 20th century: book now a 2 star hotel in Rome and visit the 6 sections of the exhibition, to discover how art and advertisement have changed through time, from the graphic refinement of the beginning of the century to the colouring of Futurism, to expressionism and rationalism. Taking advantage of Rome travel deals you will have the possibility to discover how in those years political propaganda mixed with art experimentation, revealing the communication and symbolic power of advertisements, but you will appreciate the displayed posters not only in virtue of their artistic value, but also for their historical importance: advertisements, indeed, tell us something more about Italy’s politics, habits, and industrial and economic development in the 20th century.

Do not miss this interesting exhibition: book now a cheap bed and breakfast in Rome.

Rome: Tekfestival from the 7th to the 11th of May 2009

From the 7th to the 11th of May Rome hosts Tekfestival, an independent and social documentary festival, which celebrates its 8th edition this year.

The Tekfestival, which will be held in the three rooms of the new Aquila Cinema in Rome, will then take place also in Frascati (on the 12th and 13th of May), in the Cultural Centre “Zip”, invading the two cities with a number of interesting films, accompanied by special events, exhibitions, discussions and meetings with directors, which attract about 4000 cinema lovers in the campsites of Rome and surroundings every year. Although it is a fairly young happening, indeed, Tekfestival has already achieved a great success, and it is already considered as very important in the field of Italian and international film promotion.

An evidence of this is given by the fact that Tekfestival hosts every year the projection of important films, many of them having already been awarded prestigious prizes in other festivals, and some international, Italian or regional previews. The projection of meaningful and prestigious films during the festival is also due to a continuous work of research, which includes the participation in other important international festivals and having relationships with culture associations, production houses, authors and filmmakers. All this is meant to achieve precise aims: to offer a selection of the best international works to Italian and international visitors, who travel to Rome every year; to support Italian social documentary; to give visitors the possibility to meet authors; to widely promote documentary cinema producing a DVD of a film presented in the previous edition of the festival.

A peculiarity of the festival, which makes it even more special, is its heterogeneity: the festival, indeed, is a mix of different genres and subjects, and an evidence of this variety is also given by the number of sections that the festival includes. This year about 80 films representing the best of Italian and international social and independent cinema will be divided in the following sections: “Panorami” (Overview), which features 20 films and documentaries dealing with outstanding, topical subjects that have already been presented in some of the most important Italian and international festivals; “Zoom it”, i.e. the section dedicated to Italian emerging documentarists; “Rassegna di cinema delle donne” (A Review of Women’s Cinema), a section which is meant to make people discover the works realised by outstanding women in the field of contemporary cinema; “1989-2009: la memoria del presente è la visione”, (1989-2009: the memory of the present is vision), a section which, twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, is intended to analyse how the memory and perception of this epochal event has changed in time both in Italy and all over Europe; “Agender”, which provides a starting point for discussions about subjects like gender identity and sexual orientation; “Pericolosamente ad Est” (Dangerously at East), which includes films and documentary coming from East Europe; “Banda larga” (Wide Band), a section dedicated to the new generations who live and grow up in the era of globalisation and temporary employment, to their dreams and problems.

The festival hosts many special events, which enrich the programme of the festival and which convince many people to book a guest house in Rome: one of the most interesting events of this new edition is the exhibition of political and social bills realised by the draughtswoman Teresa Sdralevich, who has realised campaigns against accidents at work and violence against women and children, as well as bills for cultural events and cinema festivals.

Rome: Race for the Cure, 17th of May 2009

Since 2000 Rome has hosted “Race for the Cure”, a short, 5 km marathon which is mainly meant to raise funds for the prevention and the cure of breast cancer.

The marathon “Race for the Cure” was first held in 1982 in the United States, and was then exported to many other countries, like Italy: on the 17th of May Rome will host the 20th edition of the race, that has taken place for two years also in Bari and in Bologna (this year the marathon will be held in the two Italian cities on the 24th of May and on the 27th of September respectively). The event is a good mix of sport, entertainment and solidarity, which persuades every year a number of sportspeople, but not only them, to spend a low cost weekend in Rome: while the first edition which took place in Italy’s capital city attracted about 5,000 people, with the passing of time the event has grown, and last year it set the record of 37,000 participants. According to the organisers, this number is expected to increase in 2009, as this year the 10th edition of the race will be celebrated.

One of the reasons of the success of the event is the variety of spaces and happenings that it includes, which are meant to meet everyone’s needs and desires and to combine perfectly solidarity, discussions on important issues and entertaining. The ones who love sport, marathon in particular, will enjoy the race: professional runners will have the possibility to take part in a real competition (both individually and as part of a group), and to be awarded (prizes include awards for the first 10 classified men, the first ten classified women, the first 10 groups and the first 10 “pink ladies”, i.e. women who have faced or are fighting against breast cancer, and who will wear a pink t-shirt and cap), but also people who have not practised or who simply prefer to take a walk will participate in the event, taking part in a 2 km walk which takes place through some of the most beautiful areas of Rome. This is also a good chance for families to book a family hotel in Rome and spend a day outdoors in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and children will also have the possibility to have fun in a wide and equipped fun area.

If you wish to take part in the race book an apartment in Rome city centre: the start is set at 10:00 o’clock at the “Nando Martellini” Stadium, Terme di Caracalla, where many stalls and special spaces will be set up for those who prefer not to take part in the marathon: live music, stalls of the sponsors and much more. However, the event is mainly meant to raise funds for research and cure (participants in the marathon will pay at least a 10 euro contribution) and to promote prevention: early diagnosis, indeed, can increase the chance of survival up to 90%. To give a concrete help and signal, on the 16th of May a “Prevention Village” will be set up and here, giving priority to the most disadvantaged women, women will have the chance to undergo free breast examinations, echographies and mammographies.

Rome: Futurism Avant-garde – Avant-gardes, from 20th of February to 24th of May 2009

On the 20th of February, exactly 100 years after the publication of the Manifesto of Futurism in Le Figaro by Tommaso Marinetti, the exhibition “Futurism Avant-garde – Avant-gardes” has been opened in Rome.

The exhibition, which will be held at the Scuderie del Quirinale until the 24th of May (you still have few weeks time to book a cheap hotel in Rome and visit the exhibition), is considered as one of the most important international art events of the year, as an unmissable chance to learn something more about an art movement that marked the 20th century. The exhibitory space of the Scuderie del Quirinale, indeed, will host 77 works coming from museums and private collections from all over the world, which will help the visitors who will spend their holiday in Rome to understand how Futurism has upset the rules of art and has influenced many other art movements. The exhibition features several rare paintings and many masterpieces realised by some of the most important artists of the 20th century, which are now considered as classic, like Umberto Boccioni’s “La risata” and Carlo Carrà’s “I funerali dell’anarchico Galli”, from the Museum of Modern Art of New York, George Braque’s “Le grand nu” and Pablo Picasso’s “La femme assise dans un fauteuil” from the Centre Pompidou, Carlo Carrà’s “La stazione di Milano” and Gino Severini’s “Le voci della mia stanza” from the Staatsgalerie of Stuttgart, Umberto Boccioni’s “Volumi orizzontali” from Munich picture gallery.

The exhibition, which has already been held in Paris (from October 2008 to January 2009), and will take place also in London (from June to September 2009), highlighting the importance that this art movement has had all over Europe, is made special by an interesting exhibitory path, which characterises the three venues of the exhibition: works have been displayed with philological care, trying to reconstruct the futurist exhibition that took place in 1912 in Paris, at the Bernheim-Jeune gallery, an event that presented the futuristic philosophy to the world, highlighting the contrast between Futurism and pre-existing art rules, and which caused an outcry and contributed to the diffusion of the ideas of speed and dynamism, which are typical of Futurism.

The innovation brought by Futurism influenced also many other art movements, and the exhibition is meant to highlight how this avant-garde helped to reformulate the vocabulary of art, focusing on the connections between Futurism and Cubism, another important art movement of the 20th century (a section of the exhibition will be dedicated to cubist paintings), as well as between Futurism and other avant-gardes, like Russian Cubo-Futurism, British Vorticism and American Synchronism.

If you book a youth hostel in Rome and visit the exhibition, you will certainly be impressed by the originality and power of the works of Futurism, a movement which touched all artistic genres, but which through painting succeeded in expressing entirely its philosophy, a philosophy which fascinated generations and which has preserved its appeal to the present day. To make also younger generations discover Futurism, children from 3 to 11 years old will have the possibility to take part in special paths, featuring animated visit and art workshops.

Tickets: 10 euro, reduced tickets 7.50 euro

Meridiana-Eurofly: from Cagliari, web check-in users increase.

From the first informations about check-in users in the airport of Cagliari there is a clear preference for the web-check-in, considering business travellers flying to Rome and to Linate. If you travel for business timing is more important and crossing the lines at the traditional check, becomes a true plus.

The service of web check-in of Meridiana-Eurofly, already active on the airports of Catania, Florence, Milan Linate, Naples, Olbia and Rome Fiumicino, is active from 1° the May for all the passengers in departure from Mameli Airport of Cagliari.
