Consider your business as if was a song... what would it be? and what would it be if it was a single photograph, or a colour or a flavour?
These are just a few questions designed to make you understand how to produce an effective corporate video. In deed corporate videos usually are boring. Instead they should capture the attention and emotions of your staff, clients and other public.
Corporate videos are not about big amount of copy like brochures are. Producing a corporate or even a training video may work on an emotional level as well. In other words if you overload your audience with much information you will only have one result: boredom.
So here is an experienced checklist to produce an effective corporate video:
1) Write down the words that best describe your business. I'm sure that your business is somehow unique. Just tell to your customers!
2) Pick up the music. Not something repetitive, but most of all, the music should suggest you movement and images in your head.
3) Write down those images. And that's your storyboard. Either if they are photos, or footage, or animation make just sure that they aren't too repetitive. It would be great if they are able to tell a story by theirself.
4) And now, just now at this stage, put the information you want to include. Now that you have the emotional core of your video, you can communicate effectively your message! But remember: when we are talking about text in videos the rule is: less is more!
5) Put it all together, and watch it, show it to other people and see what they say.
And now if you are happy with that... that's great: you have your compelling corporate video! Otherwise ask yourself if the video managed to capture the "tone of your business" and if the answer is "no", go back to your list... until you are happy with your corporate video and you can show it to the wolrd!
