In the production of machinery for industrial cleaning, such as cleaning machines, motor sweepers, steam generators, Italy holds a decisive role and there are solid companies that for decades working in this field that arise as a reference point for overseas.

The experience gained by italian companies and the continued development and study in the field led to export in central and north Europe as well as in South America and North America.

The right feeding for pets

When we decide to let a pet entering in our house, we make an important choice; we choose to share our life with a living being that, day after day, will make part of our life and our love.

The latest data confirm that Italians choose as pets: dogs and cats. The most of these prefer cats. The reasons mostly are: we spend many time out at work, we live in medium and small houses, there is an increasing number of singles and cats fitting perfectly with these conditions.

The dog needs a bigger “engagement” because it needs to go out twice a day at least, the problem comes out during holidays where several hotels don't accept dogs yet. In this case we are forced to put our dog or cat to board.

In any case, it is important to remember that we choose a pet as a mate for the rest of the life and it is fundamental that it receives an appropriate and equilibrate feeding.

No matter if we prefer a dog or a cat, both of them need a particular kind of food considering the specific characteristic of the single subject.

One upon a time the main dog or cat food were the meat cans; today, the modern veterinary medicine has recognized this kind of alimentation as limitative regarding the nutritive principles and tiring for the animal's metabolism. The croquettes have become the main food in dogs and cats diets.

Today, feeding an animal means respecting a particular diet expressly customized on every single animal; the veterinary, basing on blood tests made during the very first period of life of the animal, can suggest a balanced diet composed by natural food for cats and dogs .

The suggest food for the very first months are small dimension croquettes; day after day our pet grows up and we can supply Jelly food or Patè so to integrate diet with a bigger % of proteins.

It is very important the constant use of natural products, cruelty free, not tested on animals and with laboratories that assure the integrity and the quality of the product.

Coffee break: small daily timeless pleasure

Drinking a cup of coffee is a small daily pleasure which is part of each one of us, synonymous with relaxation is the best excuse to take a moment to pause. Rarely, however, there dwells to think of the origins of this gesture and this drink become synonymous of behavior.

Around this drink have created many legends and folk traditions there who says that already the time of Homer, in the city of Troy, used coffee. The first coffee in Europe seems to be come even around 900 - 1000 AD thanks to the many ships that brought unknown goods from all parts.

One thing certain is what he sees sip this dark drink, become, in what is today Yemen, a real custom, even supported by the government that praised its energy quality.
For Europe is somewhat 'say that certainly the first coffee came through the Venetian traders, in 1615, especially remembers Prospero Alpini, botanist, physician of Venice’s console, who studied the drink and brought to the knowledge of the Venice’s city. At first the coffee was also used for its digestive and medical properties and also for this its price was immediately quite high.

Today we find yet “Caffè Florian”, one of the oldest coffee’s shop, under the arcades of St Mark’s Square, Venice, which even then to disseminate this drink, did distribute a text that praised properties.

In today's hectic life can not miss the time for coffee break and is in the workplace as in our homes and in bars has become increasingly demanding, for this reason, coffee machines and drink machines are now becoming increasingly technological equipment and we don’t count more versions and variations, all designed to enhance quality in its various aroma of coffee.

We find so espresso professional machines, but also those semi-or for private consumption; are available automatic drink espresso machines that allow enjoy anytime of the day, both in workspace and along a corridor, each variant of espresso coffee, barley, decaffeinated. In the new models of coffee machines for domestic use are lines of innovative and elegant design because the machine also expressed become an object of furniture and enriches every environment, joining an increasingly sophisticated technology in making coffee to a design increasingly minimalist.

For use in the workplace, very comfortable and versatile are the drink machines, machines that allow fully automated, simply by inserting coins of small denomination, to have ready in a few seconds a hot or cold drink, depending on the request. In these machines the hot drink sugared already exits, with the amount preset and there is a small stick to turn sugar. Now all distributors have the use of key for those who normally use the machine or give the rest to those who are just passing through.

In every place, at home or at work, the coffee break is around the corner, the hot drink that hides traditions and ancient stories is a daily pleasure that today, thanks to technological development in machinery and in drink machines, you can consume comfortably in any environment.

Brass butterfly valves, push fittings for multilayer pipe and the necessary for water installations

Italian industry is based upon a productivity that comes from first class machineries that need the maximum efficiency in any use condition.

No matter if is involved the heavy industry or not, machineries quality needs to be maximum, as their resistance to stress.

Primary importance, in water pipes or high pressure water pipes, have the brass butterfly valves or the push fittings for multilayer pipe.

These are main components for the right use of all machineries with water or pressure circuit guaranteeing a perfect use; above all these are fundamental elements for the safety of machinery itself and the consequent safety of workers.

In a working installation acquire a great importance many other parts. These assure the right working of machinery: the split body ball valves and the brass check valves that work to stabilize the pressure inside the water circuits so to regulate the flow of steam or water under pressure.

In the circuits where flow high pressure flux is fundamental the presence of a pneumatic actuators that resist to pressure and to high temperatures.

For this reason is fundamental the use of brass butterfly valves able to regulate the inner flows of pipes, varying the opening of the valve according to the pressure, and push fittings for multilayer pipe that interacting with the butterfly valves are able to optimize the in and out pressure maintaining the plant safety and in working order.

• net profit attributable to the Group came to €121.0 million, compared with €124.5
million in the first quarter of the previous year and reflects an improvement in the tax

Italy
• In the first quarter of 2008 consolidated net revenues amounted to €850,5 million,
an increase of 19.1% on the €714.2 million of the same period of the previous year.

consolidation of the revenues of the Medusa Group.
Gross television advertising revenues came to €742.1 million, an increase of
3.0% on the first quarter of 2007. This result was achieved thanks to a particularly
sustained increase in advertising sales in the first two months of the year. In March
advertising revenues were in line with those of March 2007, despite the Easter
holidays that usually result in a slowdown in advertising investments (in 2007 Easter
was in April).
Mediaset Premium revenues amounted to €108.8 million, more than double the
figure of the first quarter of 2007 (€45.3 million).
Income from Mediaset Premium deriving from the sale of encrypted football rights to
other platforms amounted to €62.2 million (€10.5 million in the same period of last
year).
• EBIT came to €137.9 million, in line with the €137.7 million in Q1 2007.

national leadership in all the time bands among viewers in the 15 to 64 year-old age
range (the commercial target). Indeed, during the period, Mediaset recorded a 43.3%
share in prime time and 43.1% in the 24 hours.

the same period of the previous year. A positive result, despite Easter falling in the first
quarter, a general election and an advertising market that after years of uninterrupted
growth has shown some signs of a slowdown.
• In any case, a sharp focus on costs allowed for an EBIT figure of €117.9 million, in line
with the €118.0 million of Q1 2007.
• Operating profitability remained among the highest among European broadcasters,
reaching 47.4% (47.0% in Q1 2007).
• Pre-tax profit went from €122.6 million in the first quarter of 2007 to €110.2 million in
the first quarter of 2008.

TV ratings: Telecinco consolidated its position as Spain’s absolute leader with a prime
time share of 20.6% and 19.1% in the 24 hours.
FORECAST FOR THE YEAR
For the current year, the expectation is for an improvement in consolidated net profit

the trend in advertising revenues in both of the principle markets.
Italy
• After the first four months of 2008, gross advertising sales for Mediaset’s channels

increase of around 3% on the same period of the previous year, in line with the result at
the end of the first quarter.
• After the first four months of 2008, Mediaset channels confirmed their leadership in Italy
in the commercial target (15-16 year-olds) with an average share of 43.5% in Prime

Spain

Memopal: a distributed file system for online storage

Memopal: online backupA million dollar seed investment to create a storage platform and distributed file system optimised for online storage: cost-effective, reliable and accessible from the web

Memopal (www.memopal.com) is a European start-up created in December 2007 with a seed investment of USD 1 million by business angels.

Memopal has just released a storage and online backup solution, now moving out of private beta. With this single product, Memopal brings to market an online storage solution with real-time sync and a long-term backup. Memopal's idea is to make the cost per GByte so low that it will be cheaper to buy more storage space than delete unwanted files.

For years the mission of many e-businesses has been to organize web data. It is Memopal's wish to create an online storage technology that allows user data to be organized.

Memopal uses MGFS, its own distributed file system.

The main features of MGFS are:

  • Up to 100 million TBytes storable in a single file system.
  • Checksum-based archiving
  • Native data encryption and compression
  • RAID 5-like geographical redundancy
  • Native File Indexing
  • Hot-add scalability
  • Native Hardware Health Monitoring

Memopal includes the following services and featur es:

  • Sync Real-Time: every time the user saves a file it is protected online (if it is in the folders the user has protected using Memopal).
  • Versioning: every time the same file is saved Memopal automatically creates a new version, saving only the incremental data.
  • Search: file searches can be done using a web interface.
  • Single-user – Multi-computer: Users can protect the data of more than one computer. The files are all searchable with the same search engine.
  • 1-click sharing: users can send any of their stored files to friends or colleagues using Memopal. Just click on the file and decide how long or how many downloads the file will be available for. The system automatically creates a link for downloading or sending it by email.
  • Web access: Access via browser or WebDav.

Memopal is now localized in Chinese, English, Frenc h, Finnish, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. Soon will be available in 40 languages.

Memopal already offers a 250 GByte backup solution for desktops for USD 99 a year.

MEDIASET: Today Telecinco our controlled company has disclosed the following press

Madrid, 8th May 2008

First quarter 2008 financial results
TELECINCO REPEATS THE RECORD RESULTS
OBTAINED IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF LAST YEAR,
DESPITE ELECTIONS AND EASTER WEEK

• Telecinco has established an ample lead in comparison to its
immediate competitor, outpacing it by 33% in terms of net income, by
128% in terms of EBITDA and by 197% in terms of net results, all
accompanied by a 5% reduction in total costs
• Telecinco’s net advertising revenues (€231.74 million) are practically
equal to those recorded in the same period of 2007 (€233.56 million),
despite the negative impact of the Spanish Elections and Easter Week
during the month of March, while total operating costs dropped by
1.6%.
• The efficiency of Telecinco’s business model regarding the ability to
control costs and sustain revenues in changing market conditions
have allowed the channel to increase both its EBIT (47.4%) and
EBITDA (48.3%) margins.
• Telecinco registered adjusted net profits of €87.84 million, a 2.1%
increase on the same period in 2007, excluding the accounting effect
caused by the amortization of intangible assets resulting from the
acquisition of Endemol.
• The channel is the audience leader in the year-to-date ratings with a
share of 19.1%, 2.4 percentage points ahead of TVE 1 (16.7%) and
2.6 percentage points ahead of Antena 3, which is in third position
with 16.5%.
• Year-to-date prime time ratings (20:30 – 00:00) reached a 20.7%
audience share, a 0.2% increase on the same period in 2007, putting a
4 point lead on Antena 3 (16.7%) and almost a 5 point lead on TVE 1
(15.8%).
Telecinco’s solid audience leadership and the ability of its business model to
adapt to different scenarios arising in the audiovisual sector have allowed it to
repeat Q107’s record results in the first quarter of 2008. Telecinco has established an ample lead in comparison to its immediate competitor,
outpacing it by 33% in terms of net income, by 128% in terms of EBITDA
and by 197% in terms of net results, all accompanied by a 5% reduction in
total costs.
Telecinco reached an adjusted net profit of €87.84 million, a 2.1% rise on the
previous year and which, with a net revenue margin of 35.3% (compared to
34.3% in 2007), re-states its position as one of the most profitable television
networks in Europe and Spain’s number one operator in terms of audience share,
advertising sales, operating margins and cash generation.
Telecinco, through Publiespaña, brings in €231.74 million in net advertising
revenues
Telecinco’s net advertising revenues were €231.74 million, practically equal to
those registered in the same period of 2007 (€233.56 million) – down by a slight
0.8%.

Despite the extraordinary negative effect of the Spanish General Elections and
Easter Week, which both fell in March, the Publiespaña Group has once again
shown their leadership position in terms of turnover with gross advertising
revenues of €242.16 million, in line with those obtained in the first quarter of
2007 (€244.40 million), showing a drop of only 0.9%. This drop was recuperated
in April, however, when Telecinco received advertising investment that has been
withheld in March.

Telecinco increases its EBIT and EBITDA operating margins

Owing to virtually equal net revenues and a 1.6% reduction in costs in the first
quarter, Telecinco has increased its EBIT and EBITDA operating margins in
percentage terms, despite the outstanding results achieved in 2007 and more
intense competition. The gross operating margin (adjusted EBITDA) reached
€120.16 million (a 48.3% margin on net revenues), a 0.7% increase on Q107.
The company’s EBIT, meanwhile, was €117.92 million, equivalent to a 47.4%
margin on net revenues. This percentage growth shows the effectiveness of the
business model in regard to the ability to control costs and maintain margins in
changing market conditions.
Adjusted net profits grew by 2.1%, excluding the impact of the amortization
of intangible assets from the acquisition of Endemol for comparative
coherence
Pre-tax profit was €110.24 million, 10.1% less than in Q107, while net profit
was €81.48 million (-5.3%).
However, in conditions homogenous to results from the same period in 2007,
Telecinco would register an adjusted net profit of €87.84 million, in
comparison to the €86.06 million of last year, implying growth of 2.1%. This
difference is due to the greater amortization of Endemol’s intangible assets, the
result of the difference between the price paid and the net book value of the
Group. It is a cost purely for accounting purposes that neither adds nor deducts company value nor does it generate any cash flow movement. This greater
amortisation is a consequence of certain asset allocations (purchase price
allocation), that relates to the difference between the price of the acquisition of
Endemol and the book value of its assets, commonly known as goodwill.
Telecinco reduces costs by 1.6%
During the first quarter of 2008, Telecinco managed to reduce its total operating
costs by 1.6% in relation to the same period in 2007, despite DTT-related
provisions and costs stemming from the film co-production activity costs
imposed by law.

Telecinco leads the ratings for the year to date and strengthens its advantage
over its second and third place competitors
The strengths of the channel’s programming in the main time slots, especially
prime time, have been Telecinco’s main weapons in the fight to lead the Spanish
television market with an audience share of 19.1%, 2.6 points ahead of Antena 3
(16.5%) and 2.4 points ahead of TVE 1 (16.7%).

This figure places Telecinco as the best performer compared to the same period
in 2007, showing a year-on-year decrease of only 1.1 points, compared with
Antena 3’s decline of 1.6 points and TVE 1’s decline of 1.2 points.
Telecinco also ended the first four months of 2007 as audience share leader in the
prime time slot (20:30-00:00) with a 20.7% share, beating Antena 3 by 4 points
(16.7%) and TVE 1 by 4.9 points (15.8%). Similarly, in this important slot the
channel is the only television station created before Cuatro and La Sexta to
increase its audience share (+0.2%), in comparison to the loss of 1.6 points seen
by TVE 1 and 1 point drop in Antena 3.

As for the commercial target, Telecinco retained its historical leadership for the
year to date in 2008, both in terms of total day (20.8%) and prime time
(22.8%), far ahead of Antena 3 (16.6% and 16.5% respectively) and TVE 1
(12.9% and 12.6% in each segment).

The Museo de la Isla in Cozumel hosts Dulce-Amargo: Jackie’s ode to the Mexican people

VICTORIA Jackie SleperIn May and June 2008, Jackie Sleper's artworks will be exhibited in the Museo de la Isla in Cozumel in a show curated by Matty Roca.

From 9 May - 20 June 2008, the Museo de la Isla in Cozumel will host Dulce y Amargo, the exhibition of Jackie Sleper's artworks inspired by, and dedicated to, Mexico and to Frida Kahlo, curated by Matty Roca.

Cozumel is the second Mexican location for the Dulce y Amargo exhibition which forms part of the series of exhibitions that the famous Dutch artist will be showing in Mexico in 2008 and 2009, all being curated by Ma tty Roca, art historian, museum curator, and art critic. The first exhibition of Jackie Sleper's works which was held at Chetumal was considered a great success. David Domínguez Povedano, General Director of the Museo de la Isla in Cozumel has announced that there is great interest in seeing the forthcoming event.

Jackie Sleper, the winner of the section "Sculpture and Installation" at the Florence Biennale 2007 has always been fascinated by Mexico and the artist Frida Kahlo, for whom she has a profound admiration. In 2005, she received an invitation from Matty Roca, art historian and art critic to depict her vision of Mexico. Over the course of two years Jackie Sleper, together with her husband and children, spent many months in the country. Jackie says: "Matty became a dear friend. She showed me Mexico. I took in everything around me, spoke with lots of people and, especially, got a sense of the country. My previous love of Mexico only grew stronger. Over the next two years my work will be travelling to various museums in Mexico – something I would never have dared dream of as a child. I feel like I am on top of the world. This is the link that completes the chain."

Her modern works are at times reminiscent of Rivera, Orozco, Tamayo and Pollock. Jackie Sleper assumes absolute freedom in applying various techniques and introducing experimental elements: her work is characterised by combinations of photography and painting, and the use of mixed media. In addition to paintings, Jackie creates objects that incorporate a variety of multiple materials, which she transforms into wholly new and surprising concepts. The artist allows her work to be guided by a profound sense of humanism, and she's depicted as an artist in the truest sense of the word: her work has always been grounded in her exploration of human existence and the significance behind it.

Matty Roca, Cora Amalia Castilla presidenta municipal de Oton P. Blanco, Angelina Herrera, Jackie Sleper

Matty Roca: "I have been able to witness Jackie Sleper's development – as a photographer, painter and sculptor – at first hand. Every painting is an intensely personal creation and expression, presenting the world as she perceives it. She is sensitive, intense, mysterious and subtle, but also possesses a cast-iron personali ty. Above all, she knows exactly what she wants. She conveys her personality with exceptional clarity, so that she is comprehensible for one and all."

Jackie Sleper was born in Amsterdam and studied at the Utrecht Academy for Visual Arts. Between 1988 and 1995 she spent time in Ireland, Spain and Prague for study purposes. Works produced in her home country, the Netherlands, include a tile plateau in honour of Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, commissioned by the municipality of Utrecht, and 'light objects' for the Kruisheren Hotel, a design establishment that opened in Maastricht in 2005. Outside the Netherlands, she has exhibited in Antwerp (Art-Event), Stockholm (Art Fair), Marbella (Marb Art – Feria Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo), Geneva (Europ'Art), Klagenfurt (Biennale Austria), Salzburg (Mozart Festival), Florence (Museo Diocesano and Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea), Milan (Studio D'Ars), New York (Carrozzini Von Buhler Gallery and CVB Space), and in M exico. One of her works, Modestia, was exhibited during La Biennale di Venezia, at Open 2007. She won the 1st prize for "Sculpture and Installation" at the Florence Biennale 2007.

Memopal: the new online backup service 'Made in Europe'

The new European startup aims at technologically advanced services and extreme efficiency

Memopal (www.memopal.com) is a software that automatically and continuously backs up your files on a remote server through a secure internet connection (128 bit encryption), protecting all your files against defects, malfunctions, theft and even human error.

Memopal offers 250 Gigabytes of scalable spaceMemoPal control panel for archiving your files and many other services at a price of j ust 99$ (69 Euros) per year.

Memopal was created in 2007 by a group of Italian computer engineers and businessmen thanks to a "seed investment" of 1 million dollars by venture capitalists and European managers.

Today, Memopal is growing at a rate of over 1000 new users a day thanks to the product's hi-tech innovation and the team's work to provide consumers and corporations with exposure to the advantages of this kind of backup: Recently, Memopal's Managing Director Marco Trombetti, spoke about data security and digital information at an OMAT conference with IBM, Poste Italiane, Adobe, Kofax and Iron Mountain representatives.

A European startup with an Italian heart, Memopal's mission is to spread knowledge about online backup - the most efficient way to protect and share company documents.

The service is fully automatic: after deciding what you want to save, Memopal launches when you tur n on your computer. With 280 GB of scalable space available, you can even choose whether you want to just save certain folders or protect your entire PC.

The user can independently restore any lost or damaged file, if it was protected with Memopal. In fact, the system traces all the changes made to a file for a virtually indefinite period of time (file versioning). This means that if you need to restore a document that was overwritten accidentally, simply go back and open the previous versions, which are all available. Memopal does not delete saved files unless the user deletes them.

Memopal was developed with multiuser compression technologies for files. Since every user's computer contains some files or file parts that are identical or similar, (like operating system components): why save similar file or file parts each and every time? Memopal only backs up the identical parts of files once and then it links them to d ifferent users over and over again.

Memopal Global File System (MGFS) has a checksum-based structure and its cross-file compression algorithm is based on specialized vocabulary. It is not only offered at a low price per Gigabyte (about .42$ per year), it also makes transferring faster and safer.

Memopal works in Real Time: whenever you save a file it is backed up online making it available immediately. And that is not all: the MGFS (Memopal Global File System) storage technology used by Memopal contains an advanced semantic search engine for files and a state of the art Content Collaboration System.

Memopal has geographic RAID 5 technology, which provides triple-copy storage in three different continents so that files are even protected against natural disasters.

Memopal is based on a Scalable On-Demand system: the space available can be increased at any time and Memopal doesn't slow your system do wn. Software monitors how many system resources are in use and adjusts to user needs. In the corporate version, Memopal contains a component that balances all of the company's Internet resources, giving priority to main Internet services (web navigation, e-mail and FTP).

One of the most exciting functions is "One-Click Sharing". This system lets you share files measuring multiple Gigabytes with friends and co-workers. Just right-click the file you want to share and your friends will receive an e-mail with a link to the document.

Over the past 10 years, digital content production has grown exponentially throughout the world, confirming the UGC – User Generated Content generation and the trend launched in the mid 90s. Studies indicate that growth will continue and the amount of digital information will grow to billions of Gigabytes: 5 Exabytes (billions of billions of bytes) were created in 2002, 161 Exabytes in 2006 and by 2010 that number is expected to reach 988 exabytes (source: University of California, Berkeley).
The challenge of the century is to succeed in managing and preserving all this information.

Online backup is the answer, thanks to increasingly lower costs for connectivity and storage hardware and thanks to extremely easy-to-use and affordable services.

Ggoal and the politics… of participation

Millions of people follow the Italian elections on the web. The race of the websites is aimed at providing election results in real time. The Ggoal community has done its duty in these days by providing a complete round up of information to its users. Information coming from other users. Ggoal’s task is obviously not to make predictions or forecasts, but, like every reputable search engine, to inform. To inform in detail about the different aspects regarding the 2008 Elections.

On this aspect Ggoal has not surpassed its own expectations. Thanks to the cooperation of a community which is growing considerably day by day, the people who have used the first Web 2.0 search engine have obtained what they were looking for. The elections are a complex topic, which do not only concern the knowledge of participating parties, but also the views of single candidates and mainly the existing electoral law. Yes, because the intelligent voter, like the intelligent user, could want to know for example the text of the law which leads us to the elections in these days.

Therefore, people who use the web to know, deepen and choose a crucial subject like the elections of their own country have to receive precise results, reliable answers and guarantee of neutrality meaning efficiency. In this the Ggoal community is leading the way. The Ggoal Team, which monitors the requests and suggestions by users, confirms that there have not been excessive cases of propaganda by users. The contributions which the staff received have all been oriented towards sharing information: precise, detailed, clean and impartial. This is a sign that Ggoal is a mature and intelligent community. This is also good politics and does politics good.

We wished to communicate this positive feedback, which has allowed the administrators to better understand the Ggoal team players, but above all has shown users that they can trust a fully human search engine.

Wi-MAX: la nuova soluzione per la connessione e trasmissione senza fili

Wi-MAX (World Interoperability for Microwave Access), è una tecnologia basata sullo standard IEEE 802.16, conosciuto anche come WirelessMAN (wireless metropolitan area network).
