Welcome to Handmade In Italy 2010 Fashion Collections

What are the creativities that paint the Autumn of the fashion accessories and body fashion design - between Luxury and Glamour? What will next Christmas bring? What trends will take their steps in Winter?

Moesi tells the (Hand)Made in Italy of the complement furnishing accessories, of the bijoux and of the fragrances through alchemy of colours, forms and perfumes to outline the contemporary and infinite shades of a Person being, today.

Colours. Turquoise and Coral mixed in the furnace by Murano Masters in the creation of glass jewels to bring to mind the echo of nature, of the sea … and also more ranges of colour – from white to red, from purple to pink, to pearl grey - to move emotions on necklaces and pendants in classic and modern style…

"Echoes of fashion" is Moesi's new face for the bijoux collections Autumn/Winter 2009/2010. With Echoes Of Fashion, Moesi's bijoux will be combined with packaging subtended by three main themes in order to satisfy primary emotion moving each single person in his/her approach to body fashion: simple, sporty, sceneografic. Packaging for Bijoux enhanced by creative designs realized with various techniques to frame the beauty and the reflections of stones, pearls and micropearls in Murano Glass. From the tradition and the uniqueness of the Venetian conteria to the particular pose of crystal in the Italian charms: necklaces with charms hanging on strings of pearls or metal chains; pendants cleverly combined with satin ribbons; necklaces of big visual impact with falls of glass ; necklaces with geometric treats that design a woman of great personality.

Colours. Black, White, Gold, Silver and Bronze. A different colour for each scent, coupled with a delicate design bottle in the same satin colour-theme. A colour to give identity to the bottle design. A non-transparent solid colour to customize the brand-name of the perfume.

With the Collection Selected, selected and refined at the same time, the Moesi Quintessenza Division is built around two exceptional notes: colours inspiring the perfumes and packaging reflecting the tone of the five fragrances WHITE, SILVER, GOLD, COPPER and BLACK: Essence of White, characterized by natural and innocent notes with a fine and floral heart; Essence of Silver, effervescent, fresh, vital and silvery in an elixir of ginger and green tea to clear one's mind; Essence of Gold, a rich blend as precious as the metal itself for exotic and enfolding sensations; Essence of Copper, an impressive tribute to the colours and scents of a wood in autumn; Essence of Black, elegant and mysterious for a wrapping and seductive fragrance.

Colours. Gold and platinum to define the Points of Light of the Luxury Lines coupled with the glamour of the Lines Retro, winking at the decade 1960/1970 and harmonizing attention to detail and forms with the needs of single environments and spaces: design dedicated to define timing and paces of the intimacy of a house or of a workplace.

Lighting Retro, winking at the decade 60-70 of the last century, of a Point of Light that harmonizes attention to detail and forms with the needs of single environments and spaces. The new range of Moesi's Points of Light (see photo, the Die Line) is based on the concept of Lighting in Interior Design, according to which the Point of Light becomes an element of harmony with the environment of which it is an integral and indispensable part . Therefore, refined design to characterize environment transitions and to highlight "form and substance" of a single space. This is the concept applied by Moesi also to its first Luxury proposal: a line characterized by "third fire" ceramic uprights plated in speckled gold sequin (available also in platinum) with lampshades in golden lamé.

Moesi is interior design items in glass design, ceramics design, contemporary decorative objects and bijoux accessories. Moesi proposes innovative items, result of the artisan care with which they have been made. The interior design objects and the jewels of the bijoux lines in Murano's glass are the work of skilled craftsmen. Unique objects on account of refinement and elegance of the materials selected, entirely Made in Italy. Productions devoted to the sectors of interior design furnishings, gift items, wedding cadeaux and high-quality bijoux.

Breton machines at Verona MARMOMACC 2009

In keeping with Breton tradition, many innovations including new natural stone working machines will be premièred at "Marmomacc" in Verona.

The new CONTOURFIVE NC 700 is an extremely versatile Five Axis CNC milling centre designed for routing, carving, contouring and turning operations.

CONTOURFIVE NC 700 is built from the ground up expressly for machining pieces made from marble, granite, compound stone and stone in general. The machine is designed to fully exploit the high speed processing advantages of the Siemens 840D SL CNC platform with our own intuitive Smartcam Modelling and “Breton LathePlus” software for programming of the machine and lathe accessory. Using our Breton “Virtual Work” software the operator can see a full 3D cut verification thus eliminating program errors before cutting begins.

Thanks to its vertical travel of 700mm, and it's powerful spindle configuration,CONTOURFIVE NC 700, is the ideal machine for architectural and funerary art as well as for work which requires deep dishing.

This system offers users the possibility of performing the following unique and complex machining operations which would otherwise require several machines:

- shaping utilising the saw blade to work large pieces with complex shapes

- shaping and dishing out utilising milling tools

- contouring utilising shaping tools

- sawing utilising large diameter saw blades

- turning of columns with shaped profiles or machining of columns to create a twisted effect all along the surface (provided the lathe accessory is purchased).

SHAPEMILL NCF 1100/2T and 1400/2T, is our large capacity carving centre engineered especially for workshops producing pieces made from natural and compound stone, such as tanks, columns, bas-reliefs, capitals, banisters, sculptures, etc., and is particularly suitable for restoration works.

SHAPEMILL NCF is a CNC milling centre designed for contouring, carving, cutting and turning with five interpolated axes and a fixed work-table offering users the possibility of multiple and complex machining operations within a large work envelope. The machine is the Ideal piece of equipment for:

- the shaping of blocks or billets utilising a saw blade to obtain large size workpieces with complex shape

- shaping and creating recesses utilising milling tools

- contouring utilising shaped tools

- cutting slabs and billets into workpieces utilising a saw blade

- turning of columns with shaped profiles or machining of columns to create a twisted effect.

SMART-CUT S/NC800 is a CNC cutting and profiling machining centre with five interpolated axes equipped with rotating head and fixed worktable with tilting top (on request). The S/NC800 B model mounts a fixed worktable with motorized conveyor belt so as to automate the operations of loading and unloading while the machine is running.

SMART-CUT S/NC800 is designed to perform multiple and complex machining operations which otherwise require several machines. The machine is designed specifically for the long term to:

- cut blocks and slabs into workpieces

- mount a cutting disc for profiling blocks to obtain complex workpieces

- mount milling tools for creating recesses and for workpiece profiling.

- cut tightly nested slab layouts including inside corners to maximize material usage

EASYEDGE V7 is an up to 11 spindle vertical line polisher specifically designed to polish straight, flat edges and to perform the upper and lower chamfers on natural and compound stone panels placed upright.
The polishing spindle unit is designed with micro-oscillating motion in order to guarantee the maximum polishing finish, regardless of thickness. At the entry, the machine is equipped with a spindle which performs the rough profile-shaping of the edges, or the gauging of the piece lower part, or the “drip board cut”.

The CONTOURBRETON NC260K is our state of the art CNC work centre conceived of the experience and competence of Breton’s engineers and of over thirty years of technological evolution.

The CONTOURBRETON NC260K is available in four models and has useful working travels of 137.8" in “X”, while in “Y” the travels vary according to the model: 59" for NC 260 K15, 70.9" for NC 260 K18, 90.6" for NC 260 K23 and 145.7" for NC 260 K37. In all versions, its movable bridge design means ample freedom of access, even from above, for workpiece loading/unloading operations. Good frontal accessibility thanks to the sunken worktop and the step which is an integral part of the machine structure. Due to advanced CNC technology and an extremely rigid monoblock steel frame, cast iron bridge and spindle housing and HSK80 spindle, the machine is built correctly to fully exploit the industry’s trend toward high speed cutting.

ROBOCUP SYSTEM® - patented - is a revolutionary “HOSELESS” vacuum table system that allows automating the placement of the suction cups on the workbench thus paving the way for Robotic piece loading and unloading. The spindle automatically selects the double-action suction cups from the magazine and places them on the workbench at the exact position of patented suction nodes according to both the preset working program and the location of the pieces to be processed. Once the contouring has been carried out, the suction device first releases the pieces from the suction cups, then the robotic manipulator takes the machined pieces and places them into storage, the suction cups are then released from the workbench, and the spindle automatically takes the suction cups and places them in the magazine. Finally a suitable pressure washing system washes the workbench before starting a new cycle.

We look forward to meeting you from 30 September to 3 October at "Marmomacc", Pavilion 4 - Stand B6/C7-A6/A7.

Rome: Shots of War, 3 July – 30 August 2009

65 years after the Normandy landings, an important stage of the Second World War, Rome hosts a photo exhibition that tells the last phases of the war through images.

“Shots of War”, an exhibition that will be held at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome from the 3rd of July to the 30th of August, gathers the pictures taken in 1944 and 1945 by two important war photographers, Lee Miller and Tony Vaccaro, pictures that will give all the tourists who will travel to Rome a more concrete image and a direct testimony of some epochal events, from Normandy Landings to Berlin liberation. Lee Miller and Tony Vaccaro experienced war personally, but in two different ways, and with their photos they conveyed the tragicalness of war, making us get indignant and think.

Two lives and work experiences very different from each other, which will cross in Rome in this interesting exhibition, which will certainly attract many people with a passion for history and photography, but not only them (book now discount guest houses and hotels in Rome, the city is always overcrowded in summer). On the one hand Lee Miller, war correspondent for British Vogue since 1940 and correspondent for the US Army in 1944, a courageous woman and a famous photographer, who had lived in Paris becoming friend of many surrealists and intellectuals. On the other hand Tony Vaccaro, a young soldier of the US Army coming from Italy, who decided to become a press photographer when he felt the need to express himself, but he was unable to do that through words because of his poor knowledge of the English language. The pictures taken by Lee Miller and Tony Vaccaro will be displayed in the same exhibitory space at the Scuderie del Quirinale, but on different walls, to compare two different ways of telling, two different styles and points of view, which are both useful to learn something more about that historical period. On the one hand the photos taken by Lee Miller, who stands out for her good and refined technique, and who was interested above all on what happened out of the battlefields, focusing on the faces of common people: nurses, soldiers, victims and the injured. On the other hand Vaccaro, the soldier who personally experienced war, who was in contact with death daily and who portrayed the atrocities of war through images. Both photographers became witnesses of important events: Lee Millers followed the US Army during the siege of Saint Malo, Paris liberation, Alsace and Luxembourg campaigns, the taking of Munich (here she portrayed Hitler’s abandoned house), the liberation of Buchenwald and Dachau. Tony Vaccaro, who landed at Ohama Beach on the 6th of June 1944, portrayed, with his photos, the advance of the allied through France, Belgium and Germany.

To help visitors follow the paths of both photographers and to expand on the historical context, the exhibition also includes a reconstruction of the Normandy landings made with aerial photographs of the Royal Air Force and a historical introduction realised by Umberto Gentiloni, who curated the exhibition together with Marco Delogu.

If you visit the exhibition (you can stay in a camping in Rome), with the same ticket you will have the possibility to watch the screening of a film.

Rome: Asian Film Festival, 4 – 11 July 2009

If you have a passion for Eastern cinema do not miss the Asian Film Festival.

The Asian Film festival will take place from the 4th to the 11th of July in Rome, at the Cinema Farnese, and like every year it will feature a rich programme of projections of Eastern films: a unique chance for all the most refined cinema lovers who will enjoy a travel to Rome and watch films that are not usually distributed in many Italian cinemas.

Although Eastern cinema is achieving success in international festivals and competitions, and with the passing of time it is becoming more popular abroad, we cannot claim that it is well-known by most people: for this reason the Asian Film Festival, its 7th edition being celebrated this year, is meant to intensify the connection between Italy and East, and in particular it is meant to strengthen the visibility of Asian films, providing a rich and high-quality programme, which includes both famous and emerging directors, and which gives space also to films that otherwise are difficult to be found.

If you book a guest house in Rome you will have the chance to watch films of different genres realised in various Asian countries, from Taiwan to Japan, from China to South Korea, from Singapore to Malaysia, which in some cases will be projected for the first time in Italy (“Pongso No Tao” by Wang Jingui, “The Shaft” by Cht Zhang, and many more) or in Europe (just to make few examples: “Homeless FC” by James Leong and Lynn Lee, “Er Dong” by Yang Jin, “Keeping Watch” by Fen Fen-Cheng).

The films presented at the festival are traditionally divided into 5 categories: the competition section, featuring this year directors like Hirokazu Kore-eda with “Still Walking”, Eric Khoo with “My Magic” and Yeo Joon Han with “Sell out”, includes the films that might win the following prizes: best film, best director, best actor, best actress and most original film, while the out of competition section includes films like "Ashes of time redux" by Wong Kar-Way, "Face" by Tsai Ming Liang and "Tokyo" by Michel Gondry, Leos Carax and Bang Joon-ho; also the other sections of the festival are very interesting: “Newcomers from Taiwan” is meant to give voice to new talents and to strengthen the relationship with Taiwan cinema (do not miss “The Wall” by Lin Chih-ju, “Sincerely Yours” by Rich Lee and “Candy Rain” by Chen Hung-i), while “Focus on Singapore” is meant to promote Singapore films (three films realised in Singapore are to be found also in the competitive section). Like every year, the programme of the festival is enriched by a retrospective dedicated to a master of Eastern cinema: this year’s retrospective will be dedicated to Jia Zhang-ke, one of the main contemporary directors, who is also known for having won a golden lion at the Venice international film festival in 2006 with “Still Life”. Staying in a hotel in Rome the fans of the director will have the possibility to immerse themselves in his films, but they will also have the great chance to meet their favourite director, who is the guest of honour of the festival: Jia Zhang-ke, indeed, will personally present “Going Home”, one of his first films.

Tickets: daily ticket 4 euro, admission to all screenings 30 euro
Date: 4th – 11th July 2009

Rome: The Mind of Leonardo, 1 May – 30 August 2009

It is very difficult to present Leonardo Da Vinci’s work in an exhaustive way: his eclecticism, that made him being considered as a universal genius, made him look into many different fields of knowledge, from art to science, and although many events and exhibitions have been devoted to him all over the world, they have mostly focused on only one feature of his work, going thoroughly into only a part of the studies carried on by this genius, without providing a complete idea of his work.

The exhibition “The Mind of Leonardo”, which will be held in Rome, at Palazzo Venezia, from the 1st of May to the 30th of August 2009, is meant to deal with Leonardo’s work in a different way, providing a complete image of it. The exhibition, indeed, which has already attracted many tourists in Rome’s guest houses, will not be focused on only one field of study (art, technology, anatomy, studies on water and flying, just to make few examples), but it will try to present Leonardo’s work from a different point of view: focusing on all the fields of study which the great scientist and artist was interested in, the exhibition is meant to look into the idea that Leonardo had of knowledge and into his analysis method, in order to make us discover that his study method featured some constants that could apply to any fields of knowledge. Leonardo, indeed, had a unitary idea of knowledge, and he was convinced that all the operations of men and nature were governed by the same rules.

If you plan to travel to Rome and visit the exhibition, you will discover that the whole Leonardo’s work was characterised by common analysis methods, and you will personally see the results of his studies. The exhibitory spaces of Palazzo Venezia, indeed, will host original drawings and manuscripts, but also working models of Leonardo’s projects and digital stations to see, in a virtual way, the works that have been lost. Working models, in particular, have been built very thoroughly, following blindly Leonardo’s projects and using materials, like wood, which might have been used also when Leonardo lived, and together with drawings, which are very precious pieces, they make us enter the world and mind of Leonardo. Among the displayed items, a drawing and two autograph fragments with the studies for a theatre with movable stage for the staging of Poliziano’s Orpheus in Milan, and two drawings that document Leonardo’s interest in flying machines.

The Rome exhibition focuses also on Leonardo’s artistic work: Palazzo Venezia will host some preparatory drawings, two paintings realised in Leonardo’s studio, Leda Spiridon and Leda Borghese (Leonardo interpreted the myth of Leda and the swan as a symbol of the unbridled vitality of nature, which could be found in all living beings) and a work realised by an anonymous Florentine artist who took inspiration from Leonardo’s studies on Virgin with Child and St John.

Book now a 5 star hotel in Rome (the city is always overcrowded in summer), and do not miss the exhibition “The Mind of Leonardo”.

Tickets: 9 euro, reduced 7 euro
Date: 1st May – 30 August 2009
Location: Palazzo Venezia, Rome, Italy

Rome: The Cinema Isle, 18th June – 30th August 2009

The connection between Rome and the magic world of cinema is very old and still strong due above all to Cinecittà studios, the core of Italian (and not only) cinema production since the 30s.

Italian cinema was born at the beginning of the 20th century, but it broke out after the Second World War, in particular starting from the 50s, when a number of Hollywood productions were hosted in Cinecittà studios and many Italian directors who then came down in history began to emerge, turning Rome into cinema capital city and into a magnet for Italian and international stars.

Fifty years after that extraordinary cinema season, and after a decrease of the prestige of Italian cinema (above all in the 80s), we can claim that Italian cinema is now emerging again, and Rome keeps being one of the most important capital cities of cinema. An evidence of the strong connection between Rome and cinema is given by the great number of cinema events that are hosted every year in the eternal city, like the International Rome Film Festival, which takes place every year in October. However, you do not need to wait for autumn to arrive to take part in an important cinema event in Rome: this summer, more precisely from the 18th of June to the 30th of August, the city will host “L’isola del cinema” (the cinema isle), a festival dedicated to prestigious Italian cinema.

The 15th edition of the event, which will take place on the Tiber Island, will be focused on one of those films of the 50s that have made history, Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, the 50th anniversary of its realisation being celebrated this year, and it will give all cinema lovers who travel to Rome the possibility to immerse themselves in Italian and international cinema. The programme of the festival, indeed, includes many projections: not only classic auteur films and a selection of the best films of last season, but also previews and premieres. Staying some days in a guest house in Rome you will have the possibility to watch films that have come down in history, some recent successful works (films like Marco Risi’ Fortapasc, Marco Pontecorvo’s Pa-ra-da, Gianni Di Gregorio’s Pranzo di Ferragosto, Roberto Burchielli’s Sbirri, Umberto Carteni’s Diverso da Chi?, Edoardo Winspeare’s Galantuomini have been chosen), but also works realised by young talented directors, and you will have the chance to enjoy the preview of some films that have not been projected in Italy yet, like Amalfi, 50 Seconds realised by Japanese director Hiroshi Nishitani.

The festival will host also various special events, like “Nati sull’Isola Tiberina” (born on the Tiber Island), which is meant to celebrate all those who were born on the Roman island, exhibitions dedicated to the theme of this year’s edition of the festival, events dedicated to poetry and literature, with meetings with important authors. Moreover the festival’s organisers collaborate with Comunità Sant’Egidio: as a result, the festival will host the projection of the film Tutta Colpa di Giuda, which was shot by Davide Ferrario in Turin’s prison, featuring not only professional actors, but also some prisoners and the prison’s staff.

One more reason to book cheap hotels in Rome and immerse in the magic of cinema in one of cinema capital cities.

Rome: Along the Tiber…Rome, 11th June – 30th August 2009

Summer nights in Rome are enlivened through a series of free events addressed to both tourists and the Roman citizens that stay in the city.

“Along the Tiber…Rome” is a diversified festival that takes place every summer from June to August in the heart of Rome, between Ponte Sisto and Ponte Palatino. Every night at 6 tourists and Roman citizens can enjoy good food, various shows and other cultural and music events along the revalued and renewed area of the quays, or they can simply take a relaxing walk along the Tiber, visiting the stalls. “Along the Tiber…Rome”, indeed, features many different happenings, which make the festival fit for people of all ages, tastes and provenience.

The programme of the 7th edition of the festival is divided into two big sections: entertainment and cultural events. The first section includes many different events that will be held cyclically every week: Sundays will be dedicated to comics and cartoons lovers, with meetings with drawers and dubbers and the performances of a band specialised in cartoons music. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays music will play the main role: you will have the possibility to choose between different music genres, from piano bar to jazz, and to enjoy the performances of some high-quality emerging musicians. Literature lovers will certainly enjoy the programme of Thursdays, featuring theatre and books presentations, while those who will spend a weekend in Rome will have the chance to take part in country music show-lessons (on Fridays) or to enjoy cabaret shows (on Saturdays).

If all this has not convinced you to book a bed and breakfast in Rome yet, you need to know something more about the programme of cultural events. Sundays will be dedicated to classical music, with the performances of two groups: a string quartet that will play both classical-romantic and more modern pieces, and a vocal group that will make you discover the music of Roman Renaissance, with madrigals and other kinds of compositions. Cinema lovers will enjoy the short films festival “L’altro corto” (every Monday): this year it will host works dealing with two themes: memory and otherness.
